This rock was a product of the Silurian Age, formed over 400 million years ago. Composed mostly of the mineral Dolomite (calcium magnesium carbonate), it is what is commonly referred to as the Peebles Formation. Latham Limestone was initially opened in 1952 to supply aggregate to the Piketon Atomic Facility. It continues to serve the aggregate needs of Pike and surrounding counties to this day. | Pike
