The county stone from Richland County is native sandstone that was obtained from an historic quarry near Mansfield. Because of the exceptional color and pattern in the rock, it is often called “picture sandstone”. The colorful stone was used for the construction of many large buildings in early Mansfield, and obtained such a reputation that some was shipped to Argentina for use in their presidential palace, known as “La Casa Rosada”. | Richland
