The Malcolm Jeffrey Family
Malcolm Jeffrey had the house designed by Columbus architect Robert Gilmore Hanford in 1923. Mr. Jeffrey moved into the completed house in 1925 with his wife Florence Rogers Jeffrey and the couple’s two small sons.
Jeffrey worked for the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company. His father Joseph founded the company which made equipment for the coal mining industry. During World War I, Malcolm Jeffrey led a unit of troops composed of employees of the Jeffrey Company. He eventually rose to the rank of Captain.
In 1930 Malcolm Jeffrey died at the age of 46. His widow and children remained in the house until 1936.
