| This three-piece McCoy tea set was made ca. 1950. It featured embossed pinecone decoration and would have been sold in department stores. Notice that the coloring is very imprecise, but the detail of the mold counterbalances the indistinct glaze. The set was designed this was to maximize the attractiveness of the pottery while minimizing the need for skilled labor. After the pottery came out of the mold, it was finished with a few dollops of underglaze and a clear glaze over top. |
