Reuben Earl Menzel, born in 1882, was the son of Rookwood master potter John Jacob Menzel and the brother of William Henry Menzel. John Jacob began working as foreman in the throwing department in 1884. William Henry began working at Rookwood in 1896 in the casting room. Reuben joined the clay department in 1896 and became a master potter under the tutelage of his father. He became a member of the decorating staff in 1950 and retired in 1959. Reuben Menzel died on August 21, 1971.
